  1. WINDOWS 3.0 SUPPLEMENTAL DRIVER LIBRARY
  2. =======================================

  4. The disks included in this package contain device drivers
  5. for printers, displays, networks, mouse devices and
  6. keyboards. These drivers allow the devices to run with
  7. Windows.
  8.  
  9. This file includes instructions on installing these device
  10. drivers and a list of all devices supported by the drivers
  11. included in this package.
  12.  
  13. Installing the Novell NetWare driver
  14. ------------------------------------
  15. If you are already using the Novell NetWare driver included
  16. in the Windows 3.0 package, copy the following files from
  17. the Supplemental Driver Library Disk 3 to your Windows
  18. directory: NETWARE.HLP and NWPOPUP.EXE. Then copy the
  19. following files into the SYSTEM subdirectory in your Windows
  20. directory: NETWARE.DRV, VNETWARE.386, and VIPX.386.
  21.  
  22. If you have never installed the NetWare driver, follow the
  23. instructions in the section "Running Setup from MS-DOS" in
  24. Appendix A of the Windows User's Guide.
  25.  
  26. For information on installing any of the drivers in this
  27. package on a network drive, see the NETSDL.TXT file.
  28.  
  29. Installing a display driver
  30. ---------------------------
  31. Follow the instructions in the section "Running Setup from
  32. MS-DOS" in Appendix A of the Windows User's Guide.  Setup
  33. might prompt you to insert disks from this package or from
  34. the original Windows 3.0 package.
  35.  
  36. Installing a printer driver
  37. ---------------------------
  38.  
  39. 1.  In the list of printers in this file, find the printer
  40.     you want to install.  Note which disk contains the
  41.     driver that corresponds to the printer.  (If the driver
  42.     filename has the .WPD extension, follow the instructions
  43.     in the next section.)
  44.  
  45. 2.  Insert the appropriate disk in a floppy disk drive.
  46.  
  47. 3.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group window in
  48.     Program Manager.
  49.  
  50. 4.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window.
  51.  
  52. 5.  Choose the Add Printer button.
  53.  
  54.     The dialog box expands to display a list of printers
  55.     available in the Windows 3.0 package.  If you have never
  56.     installed a printer, this list box will fold out
  57.     automatically for you.
  58.  
  59. 6.  Scroll to the bottom of the list of printers and choose
  60.     Unlisted Printer.
  61.  
  62. 7.  Choose Install.
  63.  
  64.     The Add unlisted printer dialog will appear.
  65.  
  66. 8.  Select from the Directories list box the drive that
  67.     contains the appropriate Supplemental Driver Library
  68.     disk.
  69.  
  70. 9.  Choose the driver name for the printer you want to
  71.     install.
  72.  
  73. 10. Choose OK.  (Control Panel might prompt you to insert a
  74.     disk from this package or from the original Windows 3.0
  75.     package.)
  76.  
  77.     Your printer driver will be listed in the Installed
  78.     Printers list box.
  79.  
  80. 11. Choose OK to close the Printers dialog box.
  81.  
  82. 12. Follow the instructions in the Windows User's Guide to
  83.     configure your printer driver.
  84.  
  85. Installing a WPD file
  86. ---------------------
  87. If the name of the device driver file associated with your
  88. printer has a file extension of .WPD, follow these
  89. instructions:
  90.  
  91. 1.  Install the PSCRIPT.DRV printer driver from your SDL
  92.     disk 6, using steps 2 through 10 from the previous 
  93.     section, "Installing a printer driver."
  94.  
  95. 2.  Select Postscript Printer from the Installed Printers
  96.     list box.
  97.  
  98. 3.  Choose Configure.
  99.  
  100. 4.  Choose Setup.
  101.  
  102.     The postscript printer dialog box will appear.
  103.  
  104. 5.  Choose Add Printer.
  105.  
  106. 6.  Type the name of the drive that contains disk 6 of the
  107.     Supplemental Driver Library.
  108.  
  109.     Control Panel displays a list of additional postscript
  110.     printers that can be installed.
  111.  
  112. 7.  Select the printer from the Add Printer list box.
  113.  
  114. 8.  Choose Add.
  115.  
  116.     Control Panel will install the printer.
  117.  
  118. 9.  Choose Done.
  119.  
  120. 10. Choose OK three times and close Control Panel.

  123. Installing the Access Pack software for persons with disablities
  124. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  125. This library includes the Access Pack, which makes it easier
  126. for persons who have trouble controlling the keyboard and
  127. mouse to use Windows 3.0. The Access Pack includes three
  128. keyboard drivers, a mouse driver, a utility program, and a
  129. guide. For more information, see the ACCESS.WRI file,
  130. included in this library.

  132. To install the Access Pack software, you must use a text
  133. editor such as Notepad to edit your SYSTEM.INI file.
  134. You can find this file in your Windows directory.  For more
  135. information about the format of this file and changing its
  136. values, see the SYSINI.TXT file in your Windows directory.
  137.  
  138. First you must check two entries in this file to make sure
  139. that the Access software is compatible with your system.  To
  140. install the Access software, you must currently have the
  141. following line in the [boot] section of your SYSTEM.INI
  142. file:
  143.  
  144.      mouse.drv = mouse.drv
  145.  
  146. In addition, you must have one of the following three lines:
  147.  
  148.      keyboard.drv = keyboard.drv
  149.      keyboard.drv = kbdoli.drv
  150.      keyboard.drv = kbdhp.drv
  151.  
  152. If your mouse.drv= or keyboard.drv= entries do not match one
  153. of these entries, your hardware is not compatible with the
  154. Access software.
  155.  
  156. In the [boot] section of SYSTEM.INI, you will find an entry
  157. starting with "mouse.drv=". Depending on the remainder of
  158. this line, you will have to take different action, as shown
  159. in the following chart:

  182. keyboard.drv=kbdoli.drv       Copy the AP-KBDOL.DRV file
  183.                               from your SDL disk 3 to your
  184.                               Windows directory.  Change the
  185.                               current keyboard.drv line in 
  186.                               SYSTEM.INI to:

  188.                                keyboard.drv=ap-kbdol.drv
  189.  
  190. keyboard.drv=kbdhp.drv        Copy the AP-KBDHP.DRV file
  191.                               from your SDL disk 3 to your
  192.                               Windows directory.  Change the
  193.                               current keyboard.drv line in 
  194.                               SYSTEM.INI to:
  195.  
  196.                                keyboard.drv=ap-kbdhp.drv
  197.  
  198. keyboard.drv=<other value>    You cannot install the Access
  199.                               software
  200.  
  201. In addition, you must always perform the following steps:
  202.  
  203. 1. Copy the ACCESS.EXE and ACCESS.WRI files from your SDL 
  204.    disk 3 to your Windows directory.
  205.  
  206. 2. Start Windows Program Manager
  207.  
  208. 3. Create a new program item in your Accessories group, with
  209.    the following properties:
  210.  
  211.          Title:     Access
  212.          Command:   ACCESS.EXE
  213.  
  214. For instructions on creating new program items, see Chapter
  215. 3 of the Windows User's Guide.
